Can I use a car battery instead of a leisure battery?

Car batteries are designed to give a large charge in a boost to start the vehicle and then be recharged by the car. Some car batteries give 30% of their power to start the vehicle. They are not designed to be run down to low charge (this damages them).

Leisure batteries however are designed to be used then charged then used. The carbon technology in the batteries we sell stops them being damaged when they are at a low charge. The Elecsol batteris have the added advantage in that they can also be used to stary vehicles. In fact we are so impressed with them they are now the only 12v batteries we sell.

You can run a small system from a car battery, but it is not ideal, and if you are using say Solar panels to charge the battery up over a long period then draining it by using for example an inverter the battery will soon become damaged.
